simply explained:
"Om Mani Padme Hum" is a well-known mantra from Tibetan Buddhism. It is associated with the bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara, who represents compassion.
The mantra consists of six syllables and has no direct translation. It is often symbolically understood as "The Jewel in the Lotus."
It stands for the fact that in the midst of everyday life – in the midst of being human – something precious and pure can blossom within us: compassion, patience, wisdom and inner clarity.
Many people speak or murmur the mantra, others repeat it silently in their minds.
It is not just about the meaning of the words, but about what it does to us:
It can help you to calm down, look within, and become more compassionate – with yourself and others.
It is often spoken with a prayer bead (mala) or found on prayer flags, stones and mills, and in samaki: in bracelets!
