on August 12th, we will experience a very special solar eclipse in Mallorca, also visible if the weather cooperates and the sky is clear

what to expect?
for 20 to 30 minutes, you will barely notice anything with the naked eye; the sun is so bright during this phase that even a partially covered sun disc still appears almost normal

after half of the eclipse, the light begins to become "strange", not like evening light, but rather silvery, metallic

colors appear flatter, shadows unusually sharp

shortly before the maximum of the solar eclipse, everything happens surprisingly fast, within a few minutes it gets significantly darker - but not like in the middle of the night, but rather like early evening, or as if a strong thunderstorm is approaching

temperatures drop a little, perhaps by three or four degrees

perhaps you feel a slight wind, the air behaves differently

animals will react astonishingly sensitively, birds will stop singing, crickets or cicadas will begin their evening sounds

the atmosphere during the eclipse is certainly the most impressive - an unusual stillness settles over the world

something peaceful happens and at the same time something awe-inspiring

and then something particularly beautiful happens: as soon as the sun reappears, it almost seems as if morning is dawning a second time, everything seems to reawaken once more before it actually goes into night and the sun sinks below the horizon
